| One of our objectives is to provide special
opportunities for the youth in our district to get the training they
need to pass the requirements for skill development and rank
advancement as they pass through the various stages of our Scouting
program. As these opportunities are made available, we will
list them here and make announcements on our home page.
If you have training opportunities you would like to see posted
here, send them to our webmaster with information on dates, times,
locations, any pre requirements, and description of the training.
Merit Badge Challenge
Merit Badge Challenge is a successful program run several times
each year where qualified merit badge counselors work with
registered classes of Boy Scouts (11-17 years old) to coach them
through the requirements for earning up to three merit badges.
Here is this year’s schedule for units in the Ft. Hamilton
District.

Classes will be held at Fairfield High School, 8800 Holden
Blvd. Fairfield, OH.
Council is now accepting registrations, and the
Registration Form is on the Dan Beard website. The
deadline for signing up is December 2, 2005. No
registrations will be accepted after that date.
The 2006 Challenge is limited to the first 1,800
out of 6,100 scouts registered in the Council. Selection
of badges is on a first come, first serve basis, so early
registration is encouraged.
If a youth cannot attend a MBC 2006 session in
his district due to schedule conflicts, it may be possible for
him to register at another district’s location by completing a
registration form for that location.
Emphasis is placed on those merit badges that
lend themselves to indoor or winter activities. Merit
badges normally offered at summer camp are excluded from the
event.
Standard cost is $12.00 per Scout, but certain
classes may require additional fees to provide for materials
needed for the merit badge.
You can view Council’s
Merit Badge Challenge Flyer to see details on which badges
are covered, additional fees, how to register, Scout
Responsibilities, and contact names.
Council also maintains a list of
FAQ’s on its website.
Leaders, Parents, and Scouts should also read Council’s
list of Required Pre-Work.
