| There are many opportunities for
adults who would like to become involved in Scouting in the Fort
Hamilton District. If you would like to volunteer for any of
the current positions listed below, please
contact our District Chair,
Don Crain via
email
or call 513.777.6208.
District Overview
The district is led by adult volunteers. All parts
of the district leadership need volunteers to make the program
work.
The ”lead
volunteer” is the District Chairman, who is assisted by one or
more Vice Chairmen. A number of areas report to the Chairman,
including Membership, Finance, Program, and Communications.
The Program area includes Activities/Civic
Service, Advancement, Camping, and training.
A separate area of responsibility in the district
is Unit Service, which is led by our District Commissioner, Joe
Bergeron. He leads the activities of the
Unit Commissioners, who are the direct
contact between units (e.g. Cub packs, Boy Scout troops, and
Venture Crews) and the
district. The Unit Commissioner is the best route for unit leaders
to get help and information.
Roundtable Commissioners
(and their staff) lead monthly training and information sharing
programs for unit leaders that help unit leaders to organize and
strengthen unit programs.
Units
Nearly all units need assistance at some level, to include:
- Active leadership (e.g. Den Leader, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Venturing Advisor, and assistants
for each of these)
- Organization (e.g. unit committees)
- Service (helping in any way)

Organizations are
effective not because they exist. What makes an
organization work is a core of people who care about the
results the organization should achieve and who commit
themselves to fill the various roles needed. One of the
highest goals we can aspire to in life is to develop our
children to grow and become effective, responsible citizens.
Abraham Lincoln once said, "A child is a person who is going to
carry on what you have started. He is going to sit where you
are sitting, and when you are gone, attend to those things you think
are important. You adopt all of the policies you please, but
how they are carried out depends on him. He will assume
control over your cities, states and nations. He is going to
move in and take over your churches, schools, universities and
corporations .... the fate of humanity is in his hands ....."
The Boy Scouting program is committed to this objective, but it
works only when dedicated volunteers step up and commit themselves.
Won’t you please consider which of the above roles you would like to
fill? We can quickly train you in any necessary skills or
duties to fill these roles. Please contact our District Chair,
Don Crain via
email or call

| "Fifty years from now it will not
matter what kind of car you drove, what kind of house you
lived in, how much you had in your bank account, or what
your clothes looked like. But the world may be a
little better because you were important in the life of a
child." |
